Last year I had the pleasure of photographing this little guy's big brother for his 1st birthday cake smash session. Broden was just the sweetest and I just loved how his cake smash session turned out.

When his mom, Amy, contacted me several months ago to let me know she was expecting another baby in just a few days and wanted to have me photograph her newborn session, I was beyond excited for her and her growing family!

Crew was born healthy and perfect! We scheduled the newborn session for a Wednesday morning at 9:30am. Since my children were in school, this timing works out perfectly for the both of us. After having a baby, moms and dad's are typically home with maternity/paternity leave so a weekday morning session was great! Newborn sessions can take anywhere from 2-3 hours in length, so while my kids are at school, I get to cuddle babies for a few hours. Shhh, don't tell my kids though! ;-)

Amy and Pat, her husband knew they wanted portraits of Broden and Crew together. As parents, nothing makes us more emotional than seeing our children snuggled together and bonding. It was this image that I captured that I knew was going to be so special for Amy and Pat.

I mean, come on, look how precious this image is!! Look at Broden's proud big brother smile! And look how peaceful and calm Crew looks in his big brothers warm and loving arms. It just melts my heart! Amy and Pat purchased this image as a large print because there was just no way they were going home without this specific image. It was just that special!

I captured some other super cute images of Broden and Crew together. I will say that getting a toddler and a newborn to pose together can be a bit of a challenge. It can even make mom and dad feel like maybe I got nothing useable for their gallery. I am so happy to say that I wasn't going to let mom and dad down! I will do whatever it takes (safely) to get them the images they hoped for. I am proud to say I got those images and more for Amy and Pat. They were even surprised with what I was able to capture. And let me show you how sweet these are!

See! How precious are those?! I'm pretty obsessed with how these turned out. In fact, I'm pretty obsessed with Crew's whole newborn session!

One of my most favorite things about Crew, was his absolutely perfect mohawk. Besides being one of the most handsome babies ever, his mohawk just made his handsomeness that much more! Using bonnets much on a baby with this perfect of a mohawk was not going to happen much. It also meant that the mohawk got a portrait of it's own.

Overall, Crew was perfect in everyway. I'm so lucky and so humbled that parents choose me to capture their newborns in these fleeting moments. The newborn look changes way to quickly and it's so important to capture them as soon as you can after they're born. Amy and Pat have already mentioned that Crew has changed so much in just the two short weeks from the time we did his newborn session to the time they came back for their session reveal and ordering appointment. It's something you will never ever regret having done.

Here are some more of my favorite images from Crew session. It's hard to narrow them down because I loved them all, really!

Amy and Pat, it was such a pleasure being able to capture these special memories for you and your family. You were amazing to work with and I hope you enjoyed your time with me and in my studio. <3

Newborn Safety

For anyone looking for a newborn photographer, no matter who you end up choosing, please make sure you do your research first. It's so so important that newborn photographers are trained in safety and posing. Safety is of utmost importance when you're letting a potential stranger handle and pose your newborn. Knowing you have a well educated and trained newborn photographer will put you at ease when you're handing your baby over to that photographer for a few hours during a newborn session. Especially since newborn photographers will be doing most of the handling of your newborn while you're spending your time with them.
